Courtesy call

On Friday, 13 March 2026, the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, received a courtesy call from Honourable
Mrs. Shirin Aumeeruddy-Cziffra, Speaker of the National Assembly of Mauritius, at the Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa.

Speaking after the meeting, the Honourable Speaker emphasised the importance of strengthening ties between the Parliaments of Mauritius and Seychelles. She recalled that exchanges had already taken place as regards the introduction of Mauritian Creole in parliamentary proceedings, with a Mauritian delegation having previously travelled to Seychelles to learn from its experience.

The Speaker also highlighted potential areas for future collaboration, particularly in the use of technology such as artificial intelligence in parliamentary work. According to her, such initiatives could help make parliamentary proceedings more accessible to the public while further enhancing the effectiveness of parliamentary institutions. She added that discussions with her Seychellois counterpart are already underway and expressed hope that they will continue during a follow-up meeting expected in July.
